The calm before the rewriting storm

Did I say out by Sunday? I meant Tuesday. Got the alpha out by Tuesday last week and I’ve been relaxing since then.

Short post today because it’s a holiday here. Had to work Saturday so I have Sunday – Tuesday as a three-day holiday. I currently have about eight people reading my first draft. It’s not all fun and games for them though as a questionnaire goes along with it. I am hoping to collect all the feedback by May 15 so I can start on the rewrite. I fell not all alpha readers are equal but I hope the average of the feedback will make my novel a better thing.

I took the week off from writing and burned three all three books of “The Deed of Paksenarrion” by Elizabeth Moon. It is the most awesome series of books about Paladins I have come across so far. The only flaw I feel is that in order to stretch it out into three books there are a lot of superfluous details and subplots that the story could have done without but who am I to argue with a published writer? It’s still an excellent read though and I can’t recommend it enough.

I started work on my upcoming short story but I will be putting that off for a bit until I pass my driver’s license theory test as I need to focus on that this week.
