In other news…

So the big news is that I passed my driving license road test on Thursday. Had to take the day off from work but it was definitely worth it.

It took me about ten months to get to this point, with driving practice once a week, usually on Saturday and Sunday. I did take a month off in summer. All of my driving lessons and tests have been in Chinese, of course, except for the theory tests. At this point I have the final theory test which I need to get 45 out of 50 questions right in order to receive my license. This whole experience has been the inspiration of my upcoming short story “License to the stars.”

On the writing front, I’ve gone through six chapters so far though I will probably have to do another once over to add in all the little details once I finish. At this point I am not rewriting other than for areas that need to be redone so that they fit the whole story. I am not rewriting line by line or editing or doing anything like that. That will be done once I have taken into account feedback from my alpha readers.

One of my wife’s friends expressed an interest in reading my novel and my wife asked for the online link to my novel. I had to explain her that it isn’t for public viewing and I am not writing my novel online. My redrafting should speed up as I get further into the book as there is less to rewrite in later chapters (for now, I’m sure in later rewrites there will be plenty.)

No critic’s corner this week as I haven’t had time to read or watch anything new sadly. I did read an epub book on editing which was interesting and I will apply some of it when I give my book the first once over for my book.
