HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Dear reader,

Happy New Year and welcome to 2018. I’ll be doing things a little differently for the next couple of months.

For the first few months of this blog I’ve been doing articles about writing techniques and the different things a new writer has to deal with and learn. It has been interesting and I have actually learned a bit doing research for the different articles.

However, doing the blog has cut into my actual writing time, sadly. So, for the next couple of months, I will be using the blog to post updates on my actual writing instead of about writing. This should give me a little pressure to actually get on with writing my novel and not content myself with just getting out an article about it.

So for the starting point, you’ll be pleased to know that over the New Year’s holiday I was able to put about 3000 words down and am now about two thirds of the way through the planned first draft. Our hero’s are now at the tail end of act 2 of the novel and about to enter act 3. I say planned novel because as I have stated previously once I have finished the first draft or version 1.0 if you will, I have a long list of things to redo for version 1.1 which I will then give out to alpha readers. Depending on feedback I will then either move on to editing (if it’s positive) or to rewriting and adding things in (if it’s negative).

Once I get version 1.1 out I will start working on a few different projects both fiction and nonfiction while waiting for the alpha readers to get back to me. My current goal is to have at least version 1.0 done by the spring festival holiday which starts February 14. If I can do that, then I will have a good two weeks to focus on rewrites for 1.1 before getting it out to my fans (who don’t yet know they are my fans but don’t worry it will be as much a surprise to them as it will be to me when I find out who they are.)

What can you expect from this blog for now are weekly updates on how my writing is progressing. I will post word counts if it stays low or simple overviews of the content if I manage to get out enough. If I ever don’t get anything out, I will post articles on how I am failing as a writer. My other hobbies might suffer a little so apologies to all my friends in advance.

But most definitely I hope everyone has a good New Year. 2017 was a milestone for me. A few of the highlights were:

–        Got married

–        Started writing

–        Started a blog

I guess you can see what is important to me. 2018 looks to have a lot of fun things that could happen such as:

–        Having a kid

–        Buying a new apartment

–        Finishing first novel

–        Finding a publisher for my novel (wish list)

–        Not finding a publisher and self-publishing on Amazon (would be more 2019 I think)

I hope that you all will be on this journey with me.
