There’s a Chinese expression: without coincidence there is no story. At the same time, in creative writing class, we are told to not put too many coincidences in our story. This is ironic because real life, what our stories are trying to imitate, is nothing but a series of coincidences.
Yesterday I finished a book that I had been reading both for myself and as research before redrafting my novel. The book was Jordan Peterson’s “12 rules for Life: an antidote to chaos.”
Well another week is here and August has truly started. Last Friday had a typhoon warning so all the the kids stayed home. It was greatly exaggerated but still gave me a three-day weekend which felt like an extension of my holiday.
As I exited Nice’s international airport, crowds cheered, half-naked people ran by me in the streets, loud horns sounded in my ear and an overwhelming sense of victory gripped my home country.
Hey everyone,
I just finished my last class of the week so officially on holiday. I’ll be away for about two weeks so next post should be up around the beginning of August or the very tail end of July.
See you all then.
I’ll be starting my holiday on Saturday so the next three weeks will probably be more personal news than writing but you never can tell.
This last week has been quite hectic but not without its good side. France did move get into the World Cup quarterfinals after all.
Well time to write has been short this last week. I’m about halfway through a new scene for chapter two. I’m writing this new scene in response to alpha feedback.
Well, had a three-day weekend but forgot my notes on the next scene I need to write at work. Concentrating on other hobbies for the holiday. Thought France did poorly on its first World Cup game but then I saw all the other countries play.
