Not me. So the results for the contest were published on the website and I didn’t make the top four. I did not receive any communication from the magazine so I don’t know how the story did or didn’t do. If you want to see the winners check out : https://www.teleportmagazine.com/2018/10/31/teleport-2018-science-fiction-contest-winners/
I feel that the title of this post could confuse some of the people who find it. They might be searching for something different. That being said, I just wanted to say that I’ve submitted a short story to a magazine contest. This is my first time submitting a story anywhere. I don’t truly expect to win, though I feel its a good story, as the contest is a bit open ended but just submitting a story for the first time is a big step for me. I’ll let you know how it goes.
Well I’m back, though I don’t have time for writing at the moment but I am hoping that in a week or two sometime will clear up. I’ll be posting if something relevant comes up.
Hey everybody,
I’ll be quite busy due to real life so the blog will be going on holiday till the beginning of September.
See you then,
Shanghai writer
There’s a Chinese expression: without coincidence there is no story. At the same time, in creative writing class, we are told to not put too many coincidences in our story. This is ironic because real life, what our stories are trying to imitate, is nothing but a series of coincidences.
Yesterday I finished a book that I had been reading both for myself and as research before redrafting my novel. The book was Jordan Peterson’s “12 rules for Life: an antidote to chaos.”
Well another week is here and August has truly started. Last Friday had a typhoon warning so all the the kids stayed home. It was greatly exaggerated but still gave me a three-day weekend which felt like an extension of my holiday.
As I exited Nice’s international airport, crowds cheered, half-naked people ran by me in the streets, loud horns sounded in my ear and an overwhelming sense of victory gripped my home country.
Hey everyone,
I just finished my last class of the week so officially on holiday. I’ll be away for about two weeks so next post should be up around the beginning of August or the very tail end of July.
See you all then.
I’ll be starting my holiday on Saturday so the next three weeks will probably be more personal news than writing but you never can tell.
